New Clients

Thank you for choosing us. We look forward to meeting you and your pet. We strive to meet all of your pet’s lifelong healthcare needs. To ensure that we are able to provide for any situation we have varied hours in our clinics, extended hours, weekend hours and 24-hour emergency care provided by emergency-trained doctors and staff in our various clinics. We seek to continually add to the list of services we offer to our clients and their pets. We ensure a smooth continuation of care by utilizing a central medical records system for all clinics accessible by all clinics and by communicating smoothly between practices. Emergency and after-hours care often depend on obtaining complete and accurate prior to medical history. Immediate access to those records is the cornerstone of appropriate treatment of emergency situations.

Creature Comfort

First visits may be difficult. Our pets are in a new environment. Our pets may be nervous. At the Mayfair Animal Hospital, our goal is to work with you to give your pet the healthcare needed while being sensitive to emotional needs as well. We seek to answer as many questions as you might have regarding your pet’s care and treatment. Please let us know how we can make you and your pet more comfortable.

Records

If possible before your first visit, please gather any previous medical or adoption records you may have for your pet.

When you visit the hospital, please bring your pet in a carrier or on a leash. This will prevent any incidents with other animals that may also be in the lobby.

When it is time for your appointment, one of our veterinary technicians will escort you and your pet to an exam room where she will ask you some questions regarding your visit. The technician may obtain weight, temperature, and a quick assessment of your pet. Please let the technician know if your pet has any special needs or may require special handling such as a muzzle or pain medication prior to full exam.

Your Veterinary Team

During your pet’s visit, you will meet highly trained veterinary client service personnel, veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians. Veterinary assistants have either graduated from a veterinary assisting program or have gone through a thorough training program through Mayfair Animal Hospital. Veterinary Technicians have either graduated with a two-year associates degree in veterinary technology from an accredited program and passed the National Veterinary Technician Exam or have completed several years of on the job training and passed the rigorous National Veterinary Technician Exam.

When the veterinarian examines your pet, she/he will take the time to listen and ask questions so she/he can understand your concerns. She/he will also perform a physical examination of your pet – checking his or her eyes, ears, and mouth and listening to his or her heart – and will ask you questions about habits and activities.

Medical Plan

If your pet requires additional treatment a medical plan will be provided complete with an estimated cost of services and an explanation of everything included on the medical plan.

We know that you love your pet because we love ours too. We treat our patients like our own pets because it is what we would expect from a veterinary team. We know you may be worried about your pet. After all, they are part of your family. We encourage you to call for an update at any time while your pet is staying with us.

Treatment

Our facilities have state of the art medical equipment including IV fluid delivery systems, ekg, anesthesia machines, digital X-ray, and ultrasound.

Discharge

When your pet is ready to go home, we will provide you with all of the food and medications necessary for a speedy recovery. We will give you written instructions for continued care. Our veterinary team will take the time to address any concerns and teach you how to administer any treatments needed. Our veterinary team will call in a few days to check on your pet’s status. Call anytime with questions or concerns. Our team is trained to assess the situation and give the best possible medical advice.
